How to Design a Small Bedroom

Lacking space in your bedroom? The smallest bedroom can serve as a multi-functional space and retreat. Consider these design ideas to turn your small space into an inviting oasis.

Incorporate Storage

Build/purchase pieces to store your wardrobe on either side of the bed that will serve as multi-functional. If space does not permit, create storage above the bed or floating shelves to display home décor/accessories

Double your Headboard as Storage

Rid yourself of the usual style headboard for one that offers storage where you can neatly display décor/accessories. If you need a place to store clothes, then choose a headboard with barn doors. This selection allows you to remove bedside tables creating more space.

Elevate Storage off the Floor

Hang your storage unit on the wall instead of having bedside tables that sit on the floor. This will immediately free up space.

Mount Lighting

Wall-mounted lighting is a great way to enhance the layout of a small space and instantly gives the space personality.

Create a Feature Wall

Create a focal point in a small bedroom. Be bold and incorporate eye-catching artwork and/or color palette where appropriate, but be careful not to go overboard.

Use Multifunctional Furniture

Search for pieces that can be used as storage such as an ottoman that can serve as seating and a place for extra blankets.

Use Reflective Surfaces

Use reflective surfaces to create an optical illusion. Mirrored wardrobes, bedside tables, accent cabinets can make a space feel bigger. Choose carefully one element.
