Live Minimalistic

Year 2020 transformed our lives in a way we could have never imagined. Remote work while a dream for many of us became a reality in a way that was a major adjustment and no school (what!). Remote work, school and ZOOM fatigue, many of us longed for normalcy. A year later, we are beginning to see and feel a sense of normalcy.

Due to the Pandemic families bustled to make major adjustments in the home to accommodate their loved ones with limited space. Living minimalistic, was not on most minds! But, we are certain that you found yourself working within this concept if you rearranged your home to make necessary accommodations for remote learning and ZOOM meetings.

How many of you kept Amazon in business? Online orders for décor and/or other living items were a must due to the growing interest in living minimally. The ideal of living with less and ridding oneself of excess became appealing considering COVID-19.

Living minimalistic has become what most consider their new normal and it has been embraced. For those who have not been able to incorporate this into their living style, it’s not too late. Here are a few tips to help you get started.

Declutter.

Start incrementally one room at a time. Begin to rid yourself of items you no longer need. The idea is to free up space in your home. For instance, you have clothes with tags or gently used and/or other items, you can sell or donate.

Be Intentional.

After, you have removed the clutter take a step back and admire your new space—lots more room. At this point you can determine if more decluttering is necessary or realize you have some artwork that would go nicely on your wall to bring the room together.

Incorporate Greenery.

Choose plants that are clean and will complement your space. Stay away from bulky plants that take up necessary space.

Commit.

Minimalistic maintenance is an ongoing process and will require dedication and commitment. Moreover, it requires patience and shift in ones’ mindset and attitude. Before you buy a new item, check to see if you have one that needs to be replaced. If so, rid yourself of the old and purchase the new. Don’t try to do everything at once or you will become disinterested in redesigning your space.
